Suga

Korean name: Min Yoongi
Birthday: 3/9/1993
Suga is the lead rapper and producer of BTS. He was Born in Daegu, where he produced tracks for local artists and was in a dance crew. He entered the Bighit entertainment rap battle in 2010 where he was immediately offered to become a trainee. He originally only signed up because they told him he would not have to dance. When he became a trainee, he was grouped with RM and J hope because they were all hip hop rappers and dancers. He debuted in 2013 as Suga.

J hope

Korean name: Jung Hoseok
Birthday: 2/18/1994
J hope is the lead dancer of BTS. He was born in Gwangju where he attended the Gwangju dance academy for six years, from fourth grade till a freshman in high school. Before signing with Bighit entertainment, he was already an accomplished dancer and had won a national dance competition. Eventually he wanted to be a singer so he auditioned for Bighit, who recruited him as a trainee without making him sing a single word. When he joined, they saw him as the perfect member to complete their hip hop trio of J hope, RM, and Suga.

Jungkook

Korean name: Jeon Jungkook
Birthday: 9/1/1997
Jungkook is one of BTS’ vocalists and the Maknae. He was born in Busan where he auditioned for Superstar K. Even though he was eliminated in the first round, he received offers from 7 record companies, including the big 3, YG, SM, and JYP. In the end he chose Bighit because he thought RM was cool. He was accepted as a trainee but didn't expect to be grouped with RM, Suga, or J hope.

V

Korean name: Kim Taehyung
Birthday: 12/30/1995
V is another of BTS’ vocalists who didn't actually intend to audition. He went to support his friend but he was asked to audition and ended up passing. He was born in Daegu and lived on a farm. He always wanted to pursue music as a career, and he played the saxophone before he became a singer. While the other members were shown to the public before they debuted, V was kept a secret, which the CEO of Bighit Entertainment says was because he didn't want another company to sign him to a better deal.

Jin

Korean name: Kim Seokjin
Birthday: 12/4/1992
Jin was born in anyang and originally wanted to be a journalist but soon decided he wanted to be an actor. When he was 19, he was in acting school when a representative from Bighit Entertainment saw him and recruited him because of his good looks. He was skeptical, but they convinced him that being a kpop idol eventually led to acting. He joined as a trainee, but had no singing or dancing experience, so his first few years were very difficult. He debuted as the lead visual of BTS and has the nickname, “World Wide Handsome”.

Jimin

Korean name: Park Jimin
Birthday: 8/13/1995
Jimin was the last BTS member to be accepted as a trainee. He was born in Busan where he took dance classes for many years. When he auditioned, they let him in because of his talent, but they were hesitant to debut him because they didn't know what to do with him. Unlike Jhope, who had a background in street dance, Jimin did ballet and contemporary dance, making him out of place among the other trainees. However, after years of persistent effort, they decided to have him debut with their hip hop group that would eventually become BTS.
